The Algorithm Isn’t Out to Get You—Here’s What’s Really Happening

If I had a dollar for every time someone said, “The algorithm is killing my reach,” I’d be sending this blog post from my beachfront mansion in Aruba.🌴

I get it—there’s nothing more frustrating than putting time and effort into content, only to see it flop. And while it’s tempting to blame the algorithm (because, honestly, it’s easier), the truth? It’s not just the algorithm—it’s how we’re using it.

Let’s break it down.
The Real Reasons Your Content Isn’t Performing
Here’s what I had to adjust (and maybe you do too 👀):
🚫Making it all about me – Respectfully, people don’t care
about you. They care about what’s in it for them.
🚫No clear CTA – If you don’t tell people what to do, they won’t do it. No CTA = no action.
🚫 Inconsistent posting – Out of sight, out of mind. If you’re only showing up when you’re launching something, your audience is not going to engage the way you want them to.

My Content Game-Changer: Leveraging Stories
Let’s talk about Stories. Once upon a time, my feed posts did all the heavy lifting. Now? My stories get way more views, so I leverage them like crazy.
I use: ✅Polls ✅Q&As ✅Behind-the-scenes content
Why? Because engagement matters more than the number of
likes on a post. Stories keep people watching, interacting, and
coming back for more.

Instead of Fighting the Algorithm, Work With It
If you want to see more engagement, you need to play nice with
the algorithm. Here’s how:
Start conversations – The more people interact, the more your content gets seen. Ask questions, encourage replies, and keep the dialogue going.
Mix it up – Reels, carousels, polls—switch it up and keep things interesting. The algorithm favors variety. ✅ Post with purpose – Every post should do one of three things: educate, entertain, or convert. If it’s not doing one of those, why are you posting it?

The Bottom Line
It’s frustrating, I know. But I promise—small shifts = big impact. Instead of stressing over reach, focus on making your content work smarter, not harder.
